WHY DO A 6 WEEK BEGINNER COURSE?

I am teaching a beginner’s course because I aim to empower you through your yoga journey with the embodiment of key asana (posture), aspects of yoga philosophy that will support your practice on and off the mat.

I know what it feels like to be intimidated to enter a yoga class, to be perplexed about the postures, or if you are doing them ‘correctly’. Maybe you found yourself to be curious about it all? Have you ever wanted to hear the posture names in Sanskrit more than once?

Sometimes it can even feel daunting to step into a class even if you really want to give it a go! I know how it feels, because I remember being in those same shoes!

EXPERIENCE YOUR YOGA JOURNEY

The beginner’s course offers a safe environment from which one can discover yoga and its practices, and encourage you to ask questions. This creates an opportunity to fully understand and experience your yoga journey. Whether you are completely new to yoga, have been practising on and off for a while, wish to brush up on the fundamentals or purely for your interest, this course will be a valuable learning experience.

The beginner’s course is spread across six weeks. We will start by covering the basics and building on every week. You will learn how to use the props and understand that these will enhance your practice and learn not to see these as a weakness, which is a common misconception. Every week we learn about pranayama (breath techniques - ujjayi breath), a little bit about mindfulness meditation, as well as understanding the importance of relaxation by tapping into restorative yoga. Each week will have a main teaching focus and layer key posture categories such as: seated, standing, back arches, twists, inversions and restorative postures. Every class is led by an intention, which is tied to a definition of “what is yoga?” found in scriptural definitions. This encourages the contemplative aspect to the physical practice as well as an introduction to yoga philosophy.

Our experience of yoga will be different as we are all splendidly unique. Yoga allows us to be aware of our imbalances. Anatomically, it helps us to work towards strength, mobility and flexibility as well as build a greater understanding around our mind through yoga philosophy. Step by step and in time you will learn to unwind both our body and mind to find a kinder, calmer and stable sense of being.

It is never too late to invest time in yourself and begin your yoga journey.

I hope to have inspired you to get closer to your personal yoga and meditation practice or going to the yoga class you may have been wanting to go to!
